I hope each and every one of you had nice holidays ..
we kinda skipped Christmas this year,
just hanging around, watching TV and eating chocolate 🙂
As I promised, I will review some of the brand new Haunted dolls.
The first will be River Styxx … and I have quite a lot to say about her 😉
I bought her on Amazon.com for $19.99, which I think is a very good price for her.
Here she is in her box :
River is the daughter of the Grim Reaper … O.o
Really ?!?
When I first saw her, my first impression was ” ZOMG CANDY COTTON EXPLOSION !!”
But more on that in a minute.

Also – I really like her artwork.
And this time – IMO – the doll came out very close to it …
Here she is,
still attached to her cardboard prison :
She was attached with 16 ( ! ) clear rubberbands and 3 of those nasty head tags ..
I really wish Mattel would stop doing that .. I almost always cut away a bit of hair when I snip them … *sigh
Alright … here she is… River Styxx …
She comes with a “haunte-fied” brush, a stand, her diary, a staff and a lot of little ( and not so little ) accessories.
The stand is translucent and light blue, same as the brush.
An interesting twist on the stand – it does not grip her around the waist, but under the arms ..
( gripping her waist wouldn´t be possible anyway, more on that in a minute .. 😀 )

The first look into her face made me think “Candy Skelita” …
she has the same lines on her lips as Skelita and they have the same head mold.
Unfortunately her face is covered in the icky hairproduct and it left patches of glue all over her sweet face ..
She has big baby blue eyes and slightly metallic blue lips,
with the signature Skelita lines.
Her nose is painted on in a very light, metallic purple
that does a good job to accentuate her little nose.
Her over-all skin colour is a light purple,
except for her see-through limps.
River wears a ( really … ) short dress, that has a sparkly print all over.
the dress is really simple and gets all its WOW from the added accessories.
She has e HUGE plastic bow just over her bumm , that is attached to a large belt around her waist.
The chains and bow can be removed,
but that leaves a really large peg visible on the belt.
Her hair has 3 colours – baby blue, lavender and candy cotton pink.
It feels really silky and looks great right out of the box … only her bangs are plastered down with the dreaded
hair product that Mattel seems to love ….
Her staff is just a grey plastic “stick” that is topped with a bow and skullette,
but she can hold it pretty nicely in her hands.
The top however is so heavy, that the staff always topples over …
River also wears a rather dramatic black veil cape –
it is very thin and I snatched it in 3 places because it was tacked down with 9 ( ! ) tags … 😦
If you part her hair
she can wear the hood pretty nicely
The feature that I really like about her
is that her legs are see-through and you can see her “bones”.
Her underarms are also clear, but the bones are just painted here :
On the first picture you can see some more of her accessories –
she is wearing a bow on her left wrist and a bracelet with a MH Skull on her right.
Her shoes are translucent blue boots that are decorated with the same bow and chains
as her dress .. I really like the attention to detail 🙂
At this point in photographing her I noticed that she is quite short …
and yupp – she has the Little Sister body, same as Twyla and Howleen :
The floating effect that the new stand gives her is quite dramatic,
especially with the flowing cape and her ghostly limbs ..
( and her dress is REALLY short … O.o )

About a year ago I decided to be more selective about my collection.
I sat down and made a list for myself,
which included things like ” do NOT buy the 10000 Draculaura ” or ” sell dolls you´re not really in love with”
Well … this is the case with 2 of the new Monster High Haunted line dolls.
I bought all the dolls when they became available on Amazon.com for the original retail price,
because I wanted the complete line –
but when they arrived, I was SO dissappointed that I decided
to not open the boxes and sell them right away on ebay.
So here are my “in box” reviews from Kiyomi and Porter …
Ladies first … 🙂
Kiyomi Haunterly is the daughter of the noppera-bo,
which is a faceless ghost.
I really liked her in the promo shots,
but when I opened the package with her inside
I knew she was not for me.
She is absolutely boring and uninspired.
She is wearing a short checkered dress and a lot of chains on her outfit.
Her shoes are translucent brown and she comes with the new haunted stand and brush.
And .. of course … she hasn´t got a face.
Her eyes are drawn in a very light baby blue / almost white and it just looks plain boring.
Her lips are shimmering blue,
which gives her a little out of breath appearance.
The back of her box tells us that she is a “faceless fashionista” … ?
As you can probably tell .. I am not impressed.

Now to Porter.
Like all the boys in Monster HIgh he is quite “rare” and hard to get at the moment.
But believe me when I say … he is SO not worth more than his original retail price.
He has got a similar face mold like Slo Moe and Invisi Billy
but his skin colour is .. just plain ugly.
he looks like a cheap toy that has been left out in the sun for too long .. 
At first I thought
that he would glow in the dark, but .. no.
He doesn´t .
His eyes are essentially colourless with a little blue.
The rest of his face looks bleached and his hair is a mess 😀
His outfit is the same that we have seen on endless Monster High boys ..
shorts, sneakers and a short sleeve shirt.
He also has a lot of chains going on in his outfit and it says
” he has got his ghost paint handy” all over the box … but what that means … no idea 😀
I really liked his artwork quite a bit
but the doll looks NOTHING like it.

I was really quite impressed with Vandala Doubloons and River Styxx,
those two capture the spirit of Monster High for me very well.
But Porter and Kiyomi are SO not to my liking .. off ye go, to new and loving homes 🙂

As I wrote earlier this week
I am planning on reviving my blog and today I will start with a wonderful new addition
to my collection.
When I saw the first pictures of Marisol,
I was kind of meh about her … but BOY – was I WRONG !
This girl is so many kinds of awesome … but let me show her to you
so you can make up your own minds 🙂
Marisol is the daughter of the Maricoxi,
which is a kind of the South American Bigfoot / sasquatch.
She comes from Monster Picchu in ” Boorú” … 😀
She comes with her diary and her “passport”.
I especially like her artwork on the box and her own blurbs about her :
But now lets get to Mari herself ..
here she is still in her box.
It was really hard to get her out of her cardboard prison –
she had not 2, but 3 tags in her head ( why does Mattel keep doing this ?? So annoying ! )
The backdrop of her box
is mostly orange with prints that look like stones and school lockers.
And here she is in all her beauty,
freed from her prison 🙂
Isn’t she fabulous ?
She comes with a black stand, a black brush, a green handbag that opens and
her diary.
Marisol has the “big sister” body
but she is by far the tallest Monster High doll EVER.

Marisol has longer legs than the other girls.
But now to her best feature ( in her own words … )
Her feet !
And man – what feet they are .. 😀
There is NO WAY those feet will EVER fit in any regular Monster High shoes ..
so I hope for a fashion pack or another Marisol doll in the future,
because this girl is amazing.
Marisol is able to share clothes with the other big sisters though.
Most of her being taller then the other big sisters
comes from her legs –
they are endless .. 😀
Marisol has a beautiful, serene face.
Her skin tone is a very pretty lavender / grey-ish purple.
Very different to her promo shots.
Her head mold is fantastic !
She has a very cute nose and a little dimple in her chin.
Her eyes are lavender coloured and her make up is mostly pink and green.
She has heavy, purple eye brows and pink lipstick.
Her clothes are the only thing that I am not that fond of,
to be honest.
She wears a strapless one piece dress,
with a plain pink top and a ruffled, 2 tyered skirt.
the skirt features footprints in green ,black and pink.
She also comes with an orange shrug, that is really just ugly .. 😀
but it also features little footprints.
This dolls feels really different than other Monster High dolls.
She is really heavy and sturdy,
with her huge feet and her strong, sturdy legs.
I absolutely like the feel of this doll.
She features the same hand mold as Abbey,
but her hands are massively bigger.
they are even bigger than Casta Fierce’s hands !
Mari has some cute fur at her arms, too
and of course she towers over Abbey 😀
Marisol also wears a little green top hat,
that is tagged into her hair in 3 places ..
Marisols Hair is a mixture between different purples and pinks,
and she has 2 neon green braided strands,
one on each side of her head.
the green braids are decorated with orange plastic tassles.
And here is another picture of this girls impressive feet 😀
I think it is really cute
that her toes stick out of her shoes a little …
its just the little extra-over the top that I love so much in Monster High !
